From the recording The Human Experience

For the closing track, I decided to cover the timeless classic "Over the Rainbow" in the style of Eva Cassidy. I have always loved the stirring rendition of this song performed by Eva Cassidy, as it emphasizes the text vulnerably and emotionally. I arranged this rendition, dripping with emotion, treating it in the style of a black spiritual full of longing and hope in the afterlife. I performed it as a trio with two incredible female vocalists, Kaylee Wedel and Kristhel Altamirano. I thought the sentiment of this song authentically wrapped up this album, "The Human Experience," in a vulnerably honest way, acknowledging that some may never find or achieve their peace here on this earth. Still, there may be a flicker of hope "somewhere over the rainbow."

Lyrics

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true

Someday, I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me

Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true

If happy little blue birds fly
Above the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?
